SUMMIT 2024
discover the stories behind the scenes!
As we gear up for the 2024 summit in Lausanne, we are excited to introduce this year’s theme: “IFs and Cities – mix and match”. This theme highlights the dynamic relationship between international sports federations and the cities that host their events.
We invite you to immerse yourself in the vibrant Olympic Capital, where you’ll have the chance to explore renowned sports venues, cultural treasures, and key institutions of governance.
THE WORLD ARCHERY EXCELLENCE CENTRE
Located just 15 minutes from downtown Lausanne, The World Archery Excellence Centre is a state-of-the-art facility in Lausanne. The Centre is dedicated to archery training, competition, and learning, and has already hosted numerous international events.
During the visit, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in archery and experience firsthand the exceptional facilities offered by the centre. Conveniently the centre will be the venue for the welcome dinner on 11 November 2024.
INTERNATIONAL BASKETBALL FEDERATION
On 12 November, the summit will feature a visit to the “Maison du Basketball Patrick Baumann“, home of FIBA. Located in the Vaud countryside, this iconic building offers a perfect blend of modern design and functionality. Viewed from above, the building resembles a hand, one of the key elements of FIBA’s visual identity.
The FIBA headquarters stands as the perfect launch point for our journey into how sports federations and cities can collaborate to drive transformation. The House of Basketball is home to FIBA’s administrative staff, as well as a FIBA Conference Centre, the FIBA Hall of Fame, the Exhibition Hall, and the Pedro Ferrandiz Library.
HOTEL BEAU-RIVAGE PALACE
The Beau-Rivage Palace is a famous ambassador of the highest Swiss hotel tradition since 1861. Ideally located on the shores of Lake Geneva, the Beau-Rivage Palace is nestled in a natural setting, a stone’s throw from the centre of Lausanne. Victor Hugo, Charlie Chaplin, Coco Chanel, Nelson Mandela, and Tina Turner are just a few of the many famous guests who have enjoyed the Palace hospitality.
We are thrilled to announce that the smartcities & sport gala dinner will be held at the Beau-Rivage Palace on 12 November 2024.
